HS2 Environmental Consultation

John Bercow MP has responded to the Government’s most recent consultation into the multi-billion pound high speed rail project, HS2.  The Environmental Statement outlines some of the likely impacts that High Speed 2 will have along the route, including those areas within the Buckingham constituency.
Comments made by those who respond to the consultation will be examined by an independent assessor and summarised for Members of Parliament to study before they vote at the Second Reading of the High Speed 2 Hybrid Bill in the House of Commons.
Speaking of the consultation, John Bercow MP said: “Though I have consistently fought for the project to be dropped and I continue to do so, I have turned my attention to ensuring my constituents get the best possible deal if the Government decide to proceed.  It is now clearer than ever that the Government has every intention of pushing forward with High Speed 2 and it is only right that I stand with my constituents in their fight to protect their homes, communities and livelihoods as effectively as possible.”
